In mandarin, Grain in Ear means that"all grains can be sowed". Being the third solar term in summer, it is also called May Festival.
People always sow the last batch of seeds before Grain in Ear comes. To celebrate it, Chinese ancestors boil green plum, see off the Goddess of Flower, and host a ceremony for the grains.
In this period, north and south China are both in a busy farming season. In south, Summer rain constantly breaks the blistering summer day. Raindrop falls on the lotus leaf, as a shining pearl is rolling down.
When poets try to seize the moment, it would be"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may." While pragmatic farmers have another saying:"No sowing befor Grain in Ear, no gaining for the rest of the year."
